Over the course of high-school junior year, the film follows the life of Tamara, a curvy teenager who’s smart and funny but suffers from only being seen as a “fat girlâ€. On her very first day of class, Tamara makes a pact with her “BFF†Jelilah to become cool and popular by hooking up with the next boy that walks into class. Tough luck: she chances upon Diego, the hottest guy in her school! To meet the challenge and make her “first time†happen, Tamara will have to stand up to snobby teen cliques and find her independence. Alienated at home since her mom’s boyfriend Chico and his 8-year-old daughter Yoli moved in, Tamara defies her overprotective mother, parties hard and breaks all the rules. To her surprise, Chico and Yoli become her allies and help her to win her conquest. But victory crumbles when jealous classmates hit her where it hurts - and her true feelings get the best of her. At home and at school, everything falls apart. Tamara finds out what it really means to grow up.
