Following the German bombing of Belgrade in 1941, Marko gives refuge to twenty people in the cellar of his old house, where he also keeps an arms stash used by the resistance movement which he heads together with his best friend Blacky.
Blacky is in love with the famous Belgrade actress Natalija but things are complicated by the fact that Marko is also infatuated with her. Attending to kidnap Natalija from the nose of her Nazi lover, Blacky is seriously injured and Marko takes him to the cellar where he hides him from the enemy.
