Variety - Breaking News
PARISâ NBC has acquired U.S. broadcast rights to the first season of âTaxi Brooklyn,â the New York-set action/comedy skein produced by Europacorp Television, the TV arm of Luc Bessonâs outfit.
The English-language show â which comprises 12 episodes â is based on Bessonâs hit movie franchise âTaxi,â which grossed $126 million worldwide. It stars Chyler Leigh (âGreyâs Anatomyâ), Jacky Ido (âInglourious Basterdsâ), James Colby (âPerson of Interestâ), Jose Zuniga (âBody of Proofâ), Jennifer Esposito (âSpin Cityâ), Bill Heck (âPan Amâ), Ally Walker (âProfilerâ), and Raul Casso (âBlue Bloodsâ).
Series is exec produced by Gary Scott Thompson (âLas Vegasâ, âThe Fast and The Furiousâ) who also served as showrunner.
Olivier Megaton (âTakenâ), Frederic Berthe, Alain Tasma, David Morley and Gerard Krawczyk directed episodes of the series.
âWe felt NBC was the perfect home for our show,â says Edouard De Vesinne, producer and co-topper of EuropaCorp Television. âI hope the American audience will fall in love with the duo formed by our fearless Cat and our charming Marseille born Leo. Cat and Leo argue and disagree on almost everything while pursuing criminal cases. The pilot gets off to a flying start and I hope the audience will feel at home with this dynamic and amusing team.â
Gary Scott Thompson said that âafter over a hundred episodes of âLas Vegasâ on NBC, and âThe Fast And Furiousâ at Universal, itâs a happy home coming for me. Iâm very pleased NBC recognized our showâs potential, and I look forward to working with them on âTaxi Brooklyn.ââ
EuropaCorp and TF1 international (Italy & Spain) will handle international sales and will shop the series at MipTV, which kicks off April 6.
