After a long stretch in prison, Larsan, 50-something, returns home and is distraught to find that his wife wants nothing to do with him. In a fit of anger, he steals an S.U.V and drives through the California desert toward Mexico.
When the car breaks down at a scenic view, Larsan, totally panicked, spots a better car and hijacks two teenage girls, Katie and Debra, who are driving it.
Police Chief Martha Geiger, mid-30's, launches an “Amber Alertâ€, the most effective partnership between law enforcement agencies, broadcasters, transportation agencies, and the wireless industry to activate an urgent bulletin in the most serious child-abduction cases. Fleeing the publicity, Larsan heads deep into remote back-country.
Convinced he will kill them before they can be rescued, Katie and Debra make a desperate bid to escape their violent kidnapper. Will they manage to do it? Will the “Amber Alert†save them before it's too late?
