Depressed after a painful divorce, Hubert Martin is a brilliant research scientist who throws himself entirely into his work - which blinds him to the fact that the lovely Lena only has eyes for him.
In the meantime, his worried and slightly possessive mother thinks the answer is to give him a dog, which will get him out of the house and maybe help him meet his soul mate.
But the mutt – a 175 lb. mastiff ! - is a problem in itself. In no time, Hubert’s already troubled existence becomes a dog’s life.
